Tiger Kills Shepherded in Alizanza’s Tadoba National Park

Chandrapur Tadoba : In a Tiger attack a 70 year old animal shepherded was killed on the spot in Alizanza forest under Khadsangi buffer range of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve on Friday evening. It has been confirmed by the forest officials.

The victim, recognised as Sitaram Nannaware from Kitali Village, had taken his cattle for grazing in compartment number 690 in the forest area of Tadoba in Morning. The incident took place while he was resting under a tree; a tiger moving through the area attacked and killed him on the spot. The fellow shepherded who saw the tiger fled immediately to inform the forest officials.

The forest department of Tadoba National Park have paid INR 25000 ex gratia aid to the kin of the family. Camera traps have been installed to identify the tiger responsible for the human kill. Foresters have warned villagers not to venture into the forest.

According to the forest department data, this is the 22nd human kill in predator attacks this year. They include 17 kills by tigers and five victims of leopard attack.


Why villagers go inside the reserve area ?


The local villagers who took their cattle to the forest region to feed them grass. As the mid jungle area finds enough cattle feed. Animals keep on grazing and forget the core area boundary line which has been never safe for animals as well as human. There should be tougher guideline for the villagers not to enter inside the core area of the Tadoba Jungle so that such misspending can be avoided.
